Assist communities, counties, private firms, developers and non-profits throughout Wisconsin with development, expansion and fostering of tree management programs.
Methods implemented to assist organizations:
- Street, park and public spaces tree inventory data collection
- Utilize GIS/GPS technology to assure technologically advanced results
- Function as City Forester on a consulting/contracted basis
- Develop strategic direction and management plans to guide communities through program development
- Advise and develop plans and tasks to manage emerald ash borer(EAB) in public and private tree populations
- Prepare community budget, staffing and equipment recommendations based on existing needs and assets
- Revise and write community tree ordinances/codes
- Present workshops on a variety of tree related topics such as tree planting, EAB and tree pruning
- Develop tree and shrub planting plans to increase diversity, health and sustainable properties
- Present findings and recommendations to diverse audiences including the citizens, schools, and politicians
- Develop and foster relationships with partners such as utilities, local garden clubs and non-profits
- Write brochures for the public relating to EAB, tree planting, tree pruning and tree care
- Provide staff training on tree related activities such as tree planting, root pruning and construction damage
- Write grant applications to assure funding of community urban forestry programs
- Work with and assist formation of municipal tree boards/councils
- Oversee hiring and contracting and of qualified tree care firms
- Supervise tree crews, both public and private to assure superior tree care results
- Work with communities to mitigate harmful stormwater runoff and increase water quality
- Provide expert witness reports and testimony
- Advise corporations and developers on ordinance compliance and restoration activities
- Provide construction damage prevention and remediation
